Be the best version of yourself

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a modern type of talking therapy using medically researched methods combined with deep relaxation/hypnosis.  Using the very best evidence based techniques of CBT, NLP, Solution Based Brief Therapy & Hypnotherapy, clients are supported to make positive, lasting changes in their lives .

You have everything you already need

The core belief of the Solution Focused approach is that you have the necessary skills and resources to find solutions to your problems. I will work alongside you, asking questions to help you recognise where you are now, visualize where you’d like to be, and develop your own strengths to make that solution a reality. These ideas and strategies are then reinforced in hypnosis: an enjoyable, natural, but powerful way to engage your subconscious mind in helping make the changes you’d like and help you feel more in control of your life overall.

How does it work?

By visualizing where you’d like to be in life, instead of focusing on the problems that have brought you to where you are, we’ll start your journey towards positive transformation. In this mindset we then use hypnosis to engage your subconscious, using the brain’s natural adaptability to forge new, more helpful pathways towards those desired changes.  Many clients find it a great relief that we do not focus on discussing the problem or trauma they are facing as this in itself can be upsetting for many.  A forward looking approach allows us to focus on the positive and work on how you want to feel rather than what brought you to therapy in the first place.  Unlike many other therapy or counselling sessions most clients find SFT sessions enjoyable, empowering and uplifting.   Sessions will leave you feeling relaxed, positive, empowered about your life and more hopeful about your future.

Hypnosis itself reduces anxiety, and this is done very simply through relaxation and visualisation, allowing the client to focus on the positive aspects of their life that encourages a shift in perspective.  Hypnosis is a very natural, relaxing state where the mind can relax and then focus on thoughts and suggestions that might be useful. It is a modern psychotherapeutic approach using practical, structured, and well-researched strategies to help people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time. Crucially, in Solution Focused Therapy we look at what the client wants to achieve (the solution) rather than at whatever prompted them to seek help (the problem).

Why is SFT effective?

You will have a clear explanation of how the brain works in relation to your challenges which will give you clarity and ownership of the patterns that are working in your mind and how these can be changed.  Through a structured solution focused approach of questioning we will draw out solutions to these problems and deduce small steps in which you can take to move forwards.  This knowledge and forward-looking focus can prove very empowering, and the hypnosis section of your session offers an opportunity to relax and engage your subconscious mind in making those solutions a reality. Over time, hypnosis can build more positive neural pathways in the brain, so the improvements you experience feel like natural developments rather than forced change.

How does Hypnotherapy work?

Therapeutic hypnosis is a collaborative process, using your brain’s natural ability in your subconscious mind to optimize your best hopes for the future. You are in control throughout, and your subconscious mind only accepts suggestions it recognises as beneficial.  In hypnosis the conscious mind and subconscious minds come together to help you access the vast intellectual resource you have and get the very best out of yourself.

As a Practitioner I am subject to a strict code of conduct as part of my membership of my Professional Bodies (CNHC, NCH, AfSFH)  Hypnotherapy is not an ‘alternative’ therapy; it is based in neuroscience and has been recognised by the British Medical Association since 1892.

How long does it take?

Solution Focused Therapy can offer rapid, lasting change. I recognise that it’s important to find a pace that suits you, but most clients establish positive lasting change in 6-12 sessions though some need more. Sessions should take place in frequent intervals ideally weekly and can be done face to face in my clinic or online in the comfort of your home.
